Faith has been feeling rather down these past few days. The nausea has been acting up, and while she hasn’t actually thrown up yet, it pains me to no end seeing how lousy she feels. She’s amazing in that she hasn’t uttered a “this sucks”-type statement yet. Truly a wife of noble character.
Min said not too long ago that they named it “morning sickness” because “sickness” would have been too general. That really cracked me up. Faith normally feels worse come night, anyway. She doesn’t seem to take to sour things that most post-pregnant women swear by.
If you have any pointers that might help, do tell.
lotsa sleep/rest and give in to cravings.
the sour stuff helps to quell the nausea actually.
give her foot massages. preggie women get foot cramps if they’re on their feet too much.
hmm in nutrition class the instructor mentioned taking some simple carbs that can be broken down readily, like soda crackers or maybe a little white bread, can alleviate the nausea.
interestingly, we were taught to advise patients to avoid citrus/sour foods, but that’s individual preference i guess.
oh yeah, if you can, try to separate solid and liquid intake during meals. kinda like drink the soup at a separate time, if possible, and eat smaller meals regularly. that way her stomach can slowly digest the food and if/when it churns, the liquid or fullness won’t make it worse.
nausea at night instead of morning is very common, apparently, but it should go away by the end of her 1st T. according to literature, that is… hope she feels better!
If sour things don’t work for Faith, try ginger biscuits or ginger tea - the pregnant European women swear by it!
Just go easy on the ginger later on though cos it doesn’t help jaundice in babies at all! It makes it worse.
just take it easy and rest more. give in to cravings…wish i could offer more as i was one of the fortunate ones to escape the morning sickness. pamper her with lots of backrubs, massage.
